FAQ

1. What is a hackathon?

Hackathons are super cool events full of fun, development, technology and start-up atmosphere. Attendees work in teams to create awesome apps, chat-bots, robots or whatever you like!

2. What does it cost to attend?

HackMSIT is free of charge!

3. What skills do I need to participate?

Any skills! We are not just looking for coders! Whether you are a designer, a programmer or a creative mate, anyone can participate.

4. What should I bring with me?

Laptop and charger, sleeping bag and cool friends. We will provide working spaces, regular meals, drinks and snacks. Feel free to bring extra hardware and gadgets.

5. What can I expect from HackMSIT 19?

An entire weekend of great company, good food and plenty of swag!

6. Do you have a code of conduct?

Yes. Be respectful, harassment and abuse are never tolerated.

7.Can I register as a team?

Yes, you can! You can also participate as individual.

8. Are we supposed to any particular coding language

No, you can code in any language.

9. What’s the maximum size of a team?

The team size is required to be no more than 4 people. We also advise to form a team of at least 3 people. However, you can also register without having a team.

10. Can I bring my existing project to the hackathon?

We apologize, but all hackathon's projects should be developed during the event's timeline from scratch. We want honest conditions for all hackers. That's why all the project should be done during the hackathon's timeline.

11. What is the criterion of selection?

You will be judged on the quality, innovation, feasibility and impact of your idea/plan of action, project implementation.

IOSD MSIT brings MSIT's most awaited and fun-filled hackathon. With participation from colleges all across Delhi and developers divergent to different frameworks and languages, this Hackathon is not only about competition but about witnessing a whole new level of ideas and creativity. The word "Hack" of Hackathon describes how different technologies come together to solve a problem. Teams of up to 4 people will be working on innovative software and hardware solutions to real-world problems.

FAQ

#RoadToHackMSIT

HackMSIT consist of 3 phases:
1. Phase 1 (30 March to 1 April 2019 | ONLINE): All the registered teams will be notified of the themes on 30th March 2019 and themes will be uploaded here : THEME SHEET. Teams will pick a theme and submit their idea and plan of action to solve a problem in that particular theme.
2. Phase 2 (3 to 4 April 2019 | ONLINE): Selected teams will have to submit their project's code/implementation and a video demonstration of their project.
3. Phase 3 (6 April 2019 | ON VENUE): Selected teams will be mentored for improvements in their projects and will code these changes at the venue (MSIT). After that, pitching will be done, based on which winners of the hackathon will be decided.

THEMES

None of us need to search far for a friend or family member impacted by sickness or injury. At our most vulnerable moments, we are confronted with a healthcare system woefully incapable of meeting the current demands. We are calling on all hackers and sponsors to innovate for a healthier future.

This is just one case there are many more like this happening all over the world about which we don't even get to know. we felt the need of building software solutions around Natural Calamities and Disasters.




Natural Calamities

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a nation-wide campaign run by the Government of India as a massive movement to initiate the theme of cleanliness all through the India. It aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India's cities, towns, and rural areas. We urge you to brainstorm solutions that assist the movement.



Waste Management

Providing access to quality education and expanding learning opportunities for the students of the underserved communities in both rural and urban areas continues to be a major challenge.









Education

Cities across the globe, especially emerging markets, are witnessing significant urbanization. In the next 15 years, India will see about 200 million people migrating to cities, which is almost equal to the current combined population of the UK, France and Germany. To make the city a better place to live, lets come up with solutions to solve challenges like water management, solid waste management, etc.

The financial services industry is facing a wave of digital disruption that is starting to reshape the sector. This industry is currently the second-biggest target for disruption, after health care.

Safety and security violations in public transport is an everyday occurrence for women in India and all over the world. Women traveling regularly by public transport often encounter threats to safety such as harassment and other violence.





Women Safety

With more people dying because of road accidents each year, it's a lingering issue that needs to be solved at the earliest. Prominent causes of road accidents are over speeding, drunk driving, hard braking, road conditions, and unskilled driving. These can be targeted to solve the problem.
